Error Msgs.
I just read an article in my favourite weekly mag. about common error messages, and how they piss off annoy the users (whether they’re techno. savvy or not). Thought I’d post the most common, and one’s I’ve come across and how to fix them (or make meaning of them). More will get added eventually.
- Error 404
- Yeah, we all know this one! “Document not found.” Basically means the page has either been moved, no longer exists or you typed the URL (website address) wrong.
- The device ‘Generic Volume’ cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.
- If you like stopping, or safely removing your USB drives, you’ll probably see this message often. Usually means that a piece of software has locked the device (e.g. Windows Media Player, iTune, Explorer – as in your viewing a folder on the drive, etc…) or the device is still being read or getting data written to it. Simply wait a few moments and try again later on.

hey dude would jst like to say that theres a great little program to see whats got hold of ur data (usb stick/files) its great if ur trying delete something aswell, the one that annoyed me was trying to sort my mp3 collection and move it around and windows media network share was stopping me from doing anything, the program is called unlocker and it will tell ya exactly whats got hold of ur data (stick) and even give ya the option to kill the process
